fuel transfer pump for 2510 diesel

The fuel pump (AR52159) on my 2510 diesel won't manually prime (with the little lever) the fuel filter and so I am looking to replace it.
For sale from YT I see two options - - one is $62.44 and looks like the original (has the two small cylinders protruding upward) and another
that is hemispherical on top, no cylinders, for $25.49. Is there any reason to buy the $62 variety, or will the $25 work fine? Thanks.

I think the cheaper fuel pump will be fine.

Did you bump engine over to determine if camshaft lobe wasn't pressing on old fuel pump operating lever keeping old pump from pumping when utilizing hand lever?

Yes, after I turn the engine over, the little lever still won't pump. Good to know the $25 version should be ok. Thanks.

I got the cheaper on for my 3010 from YT. It is held together with a ring of screws, which was nice because it was assembled with the fittings at an angle to the engine. Was able to take it apart and clock it so everything lined up.

Either one will work. In my experience, the screw together ones are prone to leaking externally as they age. Yes, you can take them apart and try to seal them but I prefer the one piece style that very seldom leak in the first place.

I like the cheaper pumps better. Even back in the 80s when I was working for a Deere dealer - we preferred the one listed here as the cheaper one. Unless they have changed - they are high quality and made by Sofabex in France. We had many brand new Deere tractors come new with them. Unlike the Airtex that is a stamped-together tin-can, the Sofabex is screwed together and can be taken apart to be cleaned.

Also - not an issue for a 2510, but on three cylinder engines - some starter motors won't even fit with the Airtex and the cheaper Sofabex has to be used.
