John Deere 3020 rocker cover vent tub removal

I need to replace the gasket on the rocker cover but I am unsure how to remove the vent tub on the rocker cover. The tube runs down through the side of the engine block. I have pulled real hard on the tube and it doesnt move. Do I need to use a block of wood and hammer it out from the bottom?

They get stuck.

Smack the snot out of it, if it doesn't slide up you can cut it off and splice it with a piece of hose, or do what you need to do to get it out of the casting and replace it with a new one.

They are still available from DEERE, but NOT cheap! (Darned near a hundred bucks.)

I just removed the one from my 4020. They can be tough. It will come up if you keep hitting it.

That block will help keep you from damaging the end.
Soft wood won't work very well.
