Fixing Up 4020 Stopler Cab

Recently I had to replace my old family 4020 (it was time to retire it/fix it up a bit/put it in the family museum) and I just picked up another 4020 that has a Stolper cab on it. From doing a bit of reading it seems like the most common thing to do is take the cab off, but I thought it might actually be something that I like if some of the guts inside worked.

So, I wanted to research fixing it up a bit. At this point I know that none of the fans/heater/wiper works (or possibly isn't hooked up). It also needs a few different parts to hold the rear window open and other minor things.

A few questions? Are there any schematics or parts lists available? Heater core/blower motor/wiper motor available? Can other parts be got? If you have any tips I would love to hear thoughts ...

Thanks!

If none of the electric for the cab works, there may be a relay under dash cover ( the thing with the handles on each side behind the hood) that is bad, or is disconnected.

I've spent a lot of time in a Stolper Cab. I'm kinda sad people like throwing them off. I've purchased a couple of them for parts over the years, usually for under $150.

Some parts are still available from Deere. Don't get the blower motor there, though. Their new replacements have really poor quality bearings that don't last, as the motor sits vertically in the Stolper
cab.I'd try AP air in Iowa, or take the old one to Napa and have them match it.

If you use your tractor in the winter, a Stolper sure beats sitting in the wind, or snow, or rain.

There were two 4020 cabs. I have one that we are going to part out but not sure which. I bought it for the rollbar and roof. I would sell any parts very reasonable something like $150 for everything left. Mine has the roof that is tapered like the factory rollguard roof. Not sure if that is Hinson or Stopler? Tom

Thanks a ton coonie minnie for the encouragement to think about keeping the cab one. In this one it appears the heater core has been disconnected and I'm wondering if it may be because it leaked. Are there any replacements for the heater core?

The Stolper cab was made in 69/70 ,the Hinsen in 71/72 and was on 6030 until 1977.Just had 4 1972 original lowered hour 4020[5900/7730]with 3 having A/C two working one needed compressor.Sold 3 with A/C intact.I had to remove last one as buyer wanted fenders. The Stolper is basically a Roll-Guard and canopy that has been enclosed and when new had no interior. You can basically unbolt outer shell and have a Roll Guard w/canopy and bolt fenders to roll guard add rock shaft covers and you have an open station. The Hinsen not as easy as floor board is part of cab and top cant be used as canopy.I had all the motors, heater, sides and doors and windows from several Stolper cabs and finally I sold it all to one guy cheap. I had a new 69 4020 w/cab and was really proud of it and didn't notice the noise as we wore earphones ,now when I buy one I cant believe how far cabs have came.

I'm going to be looking for some parts for my Stolper cab on my 4020. Right now the first thing I know I'm looking for are the things that hold open the windows ... It looks like on some of them I need the whole shooting match (or maybe that is the way to get all three of them).

I did find them at the local JD store a few years ago. They were quite a bit heavier built than the original ones. Can't remember the cost.My cab needs the seal around the hood.Anyone know where these can be found or what you are using?
