Ensign carb fix

I bought this 1930 GP a few weeks ago and when looking at it the carb filter bowl was loose. I took the carb off and found that the aluminum top plate was very corroded and the threads that hold the neadle/seat and bowl to the top cover were all but gone. New needle and seat ,gaskets and a new brass float are available but not the top cover. So being a machinist I decided to fix it. I set the cover in a Bridgeport milling machine and used a 1/2" end mill and made the hole bigger, then I used a bigger 5/8" end mill and cut a counter bore inside. Then I made a flanged threaded bushing and pressed it in from the inside. The brass seat is 1/2"X24 threads. I had to purchase a 1/2x24 NS tap, did not have one of those. I am happy with the results. I will face off the bowl gasket area and all should be good.
