Model D engine block

I have been trying to ID the engine block on a 1927 model D. The salvage yards are asking for a casting number. I haven't found any numbers. Where should the casting numbers be found?

They are underneath all you need to tell
them is how many upper water pipe mounting
bolt the early have just two, the middle
has four and the later has 5 your's should
have 4

I'm not saying that you are wrong about the number of bolts in the stand pipe but, I have a 1927 and mine had two bolts. Did they change it to 4 bolts later in 27 when they made the other changes? Mine is an early 1927.

It would depend on serial number, early 27's up until serial number 53837 used the 6 1/2" bore AD 64 R that has two bolts for the upper water pipe. From serial number 53388-109943 which is a 1930 they used the 6 3/4" bore number AD 391 R block that has 4 bolts fort the upper pipe.
