Repair of 3-way valve

I'm working on a John Deere B. The valve on the sediment bowl doesn't close very well. The 3-way valve was worse. I got the idea to try to bring it back to life. I took it apart and rolled a file over the inner part lightly to remove any burs. Then I put the outer part in the vise and chucked the stem of the inner part in my cordless drill. I put some valve grinding compound on it and spun it inside the outer part. Not too fast. Added compound as needed and kept at it til the compound was evenly distributed over the inner part when I removed it. I put it back together and assembled it and it doesn't leak by at all. I still can't believe how well it worked.

sounds like a good fix for an old problem. I think I put a new valve in my unstyled G years ago and it leaked off from the start. I shut fuel off at the sediment bowl.

I've had good luck using this product. You can get it at skygeek.com. Here's the product description.

EZ Turn is a revolutionary sealant and lubricant for oil and fuel line valves. Resistant to high temperatures, it is especially effective where high octane fuels and aromatics are present.
The functional equivalent of fuel lube, EZ Turn will not gum, dry out, or crack. You can rest assured knowing that each shipment is independently tested. EZ Turn is very efficient as a gasket paste and anti-seize agent and is excellent for tapered plug valves, marine applications, and aircraft engine manufacturing.

DON'T USE VERY MUCH OF IT. A little dab of it does a pair of petcocks!
