Gator 6x4 fuel gage seal!

Well I got a new fuel gage and the rubber groment and the hole in the tank was to small, so I had to enlarge it. As a result when the tank is full it does leak a little fuel. I know, but I could not get the gage in, even with silicone. Is there any sealant that would last directly exposed to gasoline? As always I appreciate your input!
Thanks,

I have a gator too, get another seal and try again, they fit horribly tight, put the grommet in the tank first, then a bit of lube on the barb, then push really hard. If you do anything to enlarge it, you will leak

Might have had luck assembling it with the grommet half in, then start the gauge and then push both in for the win.

So you might try pulling the grommet up by 1/4 inch and laying in a bead of hot melt glue working quickly and run it home asap. RTV might work also with 1/4 inch to play with as above, but silicone and gasoline never play well with each other. Consider RTV only as a last resort. These kinds of tank will weld with milk jug plastic which is actually very close to hot melt glue in the first place, so it just might work. Careful use of heat gun may help?
