John Deere 3010 shifting issues

Guys
Help please... I have a John Deere 3010 narrow front gas that I towed on front end cart to move
between farms (traveled slowly) and during transport a couple different times during trip it acted
like it slipped into gear. Stopped and made sure was still in tow position and it was. When arriving
at farm to unload I noticed my reverses were gone now and if placed in park position it acts like
it's stuck in couple gears or something. The forward gears are all out of position now. I can find
forward gears still in out of position now but can't find any reverse gears. Nothing was wrong with
tractor prior to transporting. Too dash cowl off and inspected linkages but not sure what to try next.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If gear shift assembly has a lot of slack the 2 quadrants(keys 11 & 17) can get out of sync. Look at latch(key 6) to determine if it has ends worn off not entering slot in quadrants correctly. If shift assembly is shimmed tight & correct then I agree with Bob that a trans overhaul will be required.

I would bet that your linkage was out of adjustment or the shifter drums separated and allowed the shifter rods to move. So you where NOT in the tow position. Now you might be lucky and just need to fix the shifter drums and linkage but I will bet that you have done internal damage and will need to tear the transmission down. The trouble is your JD 3010 gas narrow front is not worth much and rebuilding the transmission could easily cost more than the tractor is worth.

In my opinion the two position should NEVER be used for a very long distance. It is too easy to drive too fast or some thing like you have had happen. Drive it or haul it but distance tow is not a good idea.

The top shaft high range pinion has gaulded to the shaft,,your going to have to split it and press the top shaft apart, the gauld spot will not be much ,,but enough to hold it,,after you press it apart you will be able to sand it clean and replace it,,"But" you may as well service the sychro's while you are in there,,this is why it is absolutely imperative to keep the shifter in "Tow' position when towing...

Thanks guys. Wish I could do over. Lol
No chance that a gear is stuck and could be freed from too access into tranny?
Greatly appreciate your responses. I'll check those things.

There is nothing wrong with using the tow setting the range collars go the neutral and the pinon and ring gear are the only things turning the oil lever at full ,oil is half way up on the pinon. you tow it to town and back, never hurt it
