JD 4020 brakes sticking

Is the pedal sticking?? or is the brake staying on after the pedal comes up?/ there is a plunger in the top section of the valve that gets rusty when a boot fails which funnels water down into that area. When this happens you can disassemble the valve and clean and polish the plungers and replace the o-rings that come in a kit, it is a fairly simple operation,, if the brakes are dragging after the pedal comes up that side valve is leaking and can be replace after you open the body up,,I can re-build it here for you or help walk you through it if you want to try it yourself.

In that case, the valve is leaking through, you will need to take the valve apart to get to it,, maybe Jim will post a pic after bit,, when you take the top off 2 little down pins will fall out so be ready to catch them, they are part of the equalizer..

Here's the 4020 brake valve schematic.
