John Deere 4230 Hydraulics

I have a JD 4230 that I purchased not
long ago. When I bought it I changed
all the fluids and filters and cleaned
the hydraulic screen filter. I noticed
after bushhogging for about five hours
the scv and around the rear end seemed
hot. I check the temperature with my
temp gun and it was showing anywhere
from 220 to 240 degrees. Does anybody
know how hot the hydraulic area should
get? It just has me concerned. I don't
want to mess anything up. Thanks for
the help.

To add to that, since you have a temp gun, after a cold start check the temperature of the scv(s), steering valve, brake valve, and hitch valve (if it has 3-point) as the tractor warms up. The component that warms up soonest/the most is likely where the high pressure leak is.

Had this issue recently on a 4430 and it was the steering metering pump check valve that seemed to be causing my problem. I haven't actually checked since to see I my temp is running as high, but I can almost tell from the heat that was being generated off of the components.
