my 2510 has a habit of trying to flood when trying to start the tractor after it's run. are there any ports like the duplex carbs have that could be causing a problem? once running it runs great, lots of power. personally I think it turns over a bit slow but I've read on here that's normal. I did put the pertronix electronic ignition on it last year. seemed to help some.

Gary, I am no expert but I just had a Zenith apart from a 3010. I spent a lot of time looking at the tech manual as well. Thinking about your comments the thing that comes to mind for me is maybe the float valve is worn/leaking. Maybe when the tractor is turned off there is residual pressure in the lines and the bowl overfills.

I was surprised to see in the Tech Manual they recommend a "kit" be installed once per year. I am guessing it has been a long time since that 2510 has seen a "kit".

Just my two cents. I would suggest you get the tech manual for that tractor. They are really helpful.

Gary, I was interested to see you have the electronic ignition. How has that been? I am getting tired of bad condensers.

I'd be curious about the EI as well. I had one put on my 2510 last year when it happened to be in the shop. It lasted 2 months and went out. When it worked it worked great.

Mr. Kansas, there was another post about EI. Cliff Nelson had similar issues, I believe he fixed it with Graphite Core spark plug wires. The post was 11/20/16 entitled John Deere Electronic Ignition. I felt is was so important I printed it out. :) The author of the post was terrb illinois. Paul

i have had great luck so far with the electronic ignition. my distributor had all sorts of worn out parts that I could not get so thought I would give EI a try. so far I love it.
I have noticed a time or two there is pretty good pressure in the fuel line. last summer I was running ethonal and every now and then it would stop like a vapor lock. take line off at carb and it had pretty good pressure. put the line back on and all was well. I have since switched bad to regular gas.
I did have an issue with the needle this past summer also. dropped the bowl and replaced in the field and the bowl looked really clean.
this last time it would not start, we pulled it in 7th and it fired in less than 2 feet, which makes me think I need a bigger battery, different starter or something. but the fact that it floods so easy makes me thing carb issue also.
on the EI I have the odd distributor, or I think it's odd. Prestolite maybe?? of cource cant get parts. Son works for deere dealer and he can't find parts either. still got the points in my truck just in case.

when I first hooked mine up I ran the coil via a resistor that was on the tractor. the EI folks told me I did not need it so I'm hooked direct with no resistor. did not really seem to make any difference, but as I said so far I have had no trouble.
if anyone has the delco distributor and would like to put in ei I have one for that as I got the wrong one the first time and deere would not take it back.

I had the right coil but never thought about different plug wires. Might give it another try one of these days. Thanks
