So, I have a '68 3020 with a 12 volt delco starter on it. THe starter is pretty anemic. THe Iksytra (Spelling?) units have been mentioned on here as reliable and affordable. Will one fit a
3020 that still has the original fuel filters???

If so, what model starter, and where did you find it?

thanks,

john

Yes it will fit even better they are a bit shorter than the other starters,,

Didn't catch that, the couple of 3020 gassers around here seemed to crank even worse than the diesel, and that's the first thing I thought of.

I get mine from my local starter shop..around $360.. I have had good luck with them especially on a 3020, I think a Nippendenso is a better starter but they won't fit the 3020 unless you move the fuel filter a bit,,the Delco's are third choice..

Everybody note that this is a 4KW starter instead of a scrawny 3.0KW or smaller starter.
Starters, cables and batteries are some of the best examples where bigger is better.
