4440 oil pressure

I have 3 4440 tractors 1 of them only reads a qtr. of the way up on the gauge. If i tap the sending unit
it jumps to 3 qtr. of the way up. So I bought a new sender and it is the same way.I know it has good
pressure . How do they act with a bad gauge ? If unhook the sender the gauge pegs to high.

My 4440 was that way and after you ran it awhile it would jump up to where it should be. I replaced the sender and it acted the same way. It was the plug where the harness plugs into the dash was not making a good connection.

When I find elec parts that do not make good connection, I rely on PB Blaster to clean up /repel moisture / lube / remove corrosion / prevent future corrosion / etc. I just spray plenty of it all inside and out. Maybe it's just me, but it always works for me.

I'd suggest to check engine oil pressure with a manual type gauge. Another place to check for a bad electrical connection is on RH side of firewall at the wiring bulkhead.
