B radiator core replacement

I am replacing the core in my 37 B. Pretty much all of the bolts have broke off. Good thing is the ones that broke are pass thru with nuts. Haven't started on the inside ones that don't have nuts and thread into the radiator tanks. Any suggestions on getting those out. Figured I would heat it up with a torch. Just wanted to get some ideas before I did that.

The bolts threaded into the tank need to be heated to cherry red and let them cool then turn them out This also works on
the bolts with nuts Just be patient and re heat if nessary

I have did 4 core replacement this past summer, word must of gotten out I was good at it?
Well I'm not.. Each one I did had a couple problem bolts none were the same location. Heat
is your best friend, cherry red is the key & don't get in a hurry. They sure do look good when
your done.....

I like to weld a washer, then a weld a nut to the washer to remove broken bolts and screw them out.

I weld nuts to the broken off bolts, it may take a few tries but always works. If I have a
bolt that won't move I heat the head to a cherry red and let it cool, then work it loose.
Sometimes tightening the stubborn bolt just a crack will break them free, then loosen.

Well I got the tanks off the core had one bolt break on the top tank and one on the bottom tank. Guess it could of been worse.

If you go the 'cherry red' method it should work. When cooling (back to black) touch a wax candle to it. It helps lubricate the threads and actually expands when cold. HTH
