Hey Tim S, Tx Jim or anyone - design question

Concerning sheave part number H62561 - 1 3/8" shaft 21 spline

I'm doing a little "farmer engineering" and would like to adapt this sheave to fit a shaft approximately 6" on one end with a 540 rpm spline on the other end. Any ideas? Would a pto drive shaft such as R38223 have a 21 spline on the drive end?

R38223 would only have 540 type splines on one end and unique diameter and spline count on the other.

L156976 Is for newer Deere tractors and has 1000 and 540 on the same shaft with drive splines in the middle, I'm just not sure how you plan on supporting this shaft.

Here's what I am trying to do. I am trying to run a 1 3/8 inch shaft on one end from a pto shaft to the tractor thus I need 540 splines on one end of the shaft. The shaft will be held by either a couple of pillow or flanged mounted bearings to a frame. The other end of the shaft I need the 21 splines to mount the sheave.

This is what I would do, three ways depending on how you want to do it, you could get a shaft that has 21 spline in both ends and change the one yoke on your pto shaft or you could get a shaft with 6 spline on one end and none on the other have a key way cut and buy the proper size sieve your looking for or you could get one with21 splines on one end, have a key way cut and change one yoke to a keyed setscrew style.

I think Baum Iron and some others make a long 540 shaft to put on your tractor with a pto pump and still have enough to hook to an implement. Use this with a regular 540 to 1000 adapter. You could pillow block the long 540 to support the sheave and 1000 adapter.
