Tires on a B

I need to buy new tire for my 46 B
What is the better looking size tire for the rear. I know the standard is the 11.2 next is the 12.4 and is 13.6 too wide.
When I got my tractor it had flat dry rot mush that I had to cut off so I could move it around on the rims

I think they would look good with either 12.4 or 13.6.

I have the 12.4 on my Farmall H, will replace them with 13.6, should be similar tractors.

I think the 12.4 looks just right on a "B" whether it has fenders or not and some may argue but I think even the 23 degree bars look good also.

I'm pretty sure I stayed with the 11.2-38 on my 1945 B. It has 5.50-15" on the front IIRC. Looks pretty good with this combo.

I've got 11.2's on mine. I think they look the best on the B, but they'd be awfully narrow on something like an A or an H or M Farmall. 12.4 might be ok, I don't
know. 13.6 would look to "beefy" to me, but hey, you may like that look. Kinda like putting 18.4 x 34's on an M. Just looks odd. But, it all boils down to personal
preference. YMMV.

11.2x38" may look ok on an Early "B"...BUT, my 1952 "B" has a set I found..NEW 13.6x38 Firestones on 11" JD "A" Rims..looks pretty natural, leaves no Ruts anymore and is a little faster on the Road..

Mine has a Loader on it and the extra traction is apparent..

I may add some Loading to the rear tires, but not full...maybe 1/3 to 1/2 will be plenty..

Before looks, what do you plan on doing with it? Just for play or for work. That B does not have much power and for any type of load do not go bigger than the 11.2 that would be equal to the orignal 10. That tractor has a high speed transmision that the later B's do not have. If only driving it around without trying to pull any load then a 12.4 would be OK, You want to put a load behind stay with the 11.2, you go with a 13.6 and you would be flying and if any hill you would have to drop to 5th gear to get up them without any type of load. I had a 46 B so I know what it can do. I plowed with it round for round with Dad on a 49 B. I was traveling at same speed in low gear as Dad was traviling in third gear. So consider what you plan on doing with it instead of what you think looks best. And too big a tire on any tractor looks crappy.

Those early styled B's came with 10-38 (11.2-38)'s on the rear and 5.00-15's on the fronts and looke the best with those sizes. Late styled B's with their increased horsepower and slower working gears do better with 12.4-38's even though most of then came with 10-38's too. "Warmed up" early B's did okay with 12.4's too, but larger than that really cut their pulling power.13.6's are too large for either B's stock rims and look "pimched in" to the critical eye.
