2510/2520 starting

Hey guys, how do most of you hook up the batteries for starting on these tractors. 2 12 v in parallel or 2 6v in series? How were they wired from factory? Does anyone offer a gear reduction starter for the 2510/2520"s?

I always wire two 12's. As for a gear reduction starter I just bought a new Irska(sp?) for my 95 combine for $325. The same starter will fit the 2510-2520. I have both a 2510 and 2520 diesel and have no trouble starting either one with the factory starter,good batteries and good cables. If you do go the gear reduction route you will like how it really spins it over. Tom

My 2510 diesel has a car battery mounted in a box on the frame right by the starter. Cables are less than a foot long and one battery starts it fine. I will eventually want to make it look original by going to two skinny batteries, but I an in no hurry because, honestly, it is so much easier to service the battery where it is or jump it if needed.

Tom, where did u get your gear reduction starter?

Ray, that's a good idea but I cannot easily do that to mine as I have a loader on it so not much room. Any pictures of your battery box setup?
