4020 Stolper cab

Fan motor went on the blink in the cab of our 71 4020, went to mother Deere and told to go home, too old can't get. Any ideas where a person could get one at an affordable price?

Go to a REAL autoparts store with a grumpy grey-haired guy (or gal) behind the counter than can lay their hands on a dusty PAPER Standard/Four Seasons or NAPA/Echlin heating and air conditioning parts catalog complete with illustrations and specifications of fan motors and order one that matches.

Although very high $$$$$$ it appears a blower motor is still available from JD.

Have you checked with AP air for a motor?

Yes, take the old one out, and take it to NAPA, or try AP air. AP air is a bit difficult to work with, because they will only sell to "dealers".

The one Deere supplied in the past decade or so had really poor bearings, and being that the motor hangs vertically in there, it didn't last long.

I just bought a rollguard cab for the rollguard. Not sure if it is a Hinson or a Stolper. It has the fans in it and I could check if they are any good. You would have to help me figure out which cab it is. The roof is the same as a factory roll guard roof. I am doing corn right now but could check it out soon. Post back if interested. Tom

The Stolper cab has the roof the same as a Roll Gard Canopy, and the windows taper down a bit to the back from the top. The Hinson had a roof that had a straight edge.

A Stolper also has a cab filter that goes in through the top of the roof. I believe the Hinson filter changed from inside the cab.

A 71 could have a Stolper Cab yet. It could be they were using up inventory, or it was added later. Stolper also made a cab that was very similar, but just a bit different, and available after market. I think this was called Saf-t-gard. I have seen 3 4320s with Stolper cabs... how they got to be, I'm not sure.

Hopefully this helps. More likely, I muddied the water.

You guys could be right about the year of the tractor,it could be 1970, but it is a Stolper and original equipment. I do have a grumpy old guy that works at NAPA, tryed them but will have get him to get off the computer and check in the old books. Will check that serial # of the 4020,thanks.

best to take old one out and take it to a good parts store that wants your business.they can match it up no matter what its out of.probably cost a forth or less than getting from deere.

My Cab fan quit on my Stolper cab too.Deere found one but it had a shaft coming out each side.Cut one side off and it works. Now heater core leaks so guess that's next.

The first serial number of 1971 4020s was 25000.Assuming it is a Stolper I would try classfied ads on this forum or just ask on discussion board.I have seen Stolpers on 1971s but assuime the were dealer installed.I actually had several as we took the cabs apart and left the roll guard and canopy and removed fans and had doors windows and a guy bought it all.
