So now time to order parts. Would like to go with over bore sleeve set if we can find them. Not sure yet if this one has to 2 o-ring sleeve or the other but it is an early one.

Also did not see a ring gear listed for a gas tractor on this site or an over bore sleeve set.

The machine shop did replace a few valves and also turned the crank down 0.010. So is this site the best place to be getting parts or are there others that would have them and be better for a good price??

Yt sells mainly Tisco overhaul sets. They are fine for the average use. I have sued Tisco sets without any issues. It has been awhile since I have done one in a JD 1020. I think you will fined your limited in your choices. The engine will not have as many options as the more common engines like the JD 404 or 466.

I have really liked the kits from agkits on JD 4020 and 3020s. Thye havea higher compression kit that really works well on the JD 404s to make them start better. I did not see one for the JD 1020.

Ring gear for flywheel is the same for diesel or gasoline engine. It's the same part number on YT parts as JD's ring gear listed below.

Thanks you. I looked at them but it says diesel so figured the gas would use a different ring gear
