I have an unstyled Model A. Unsure of the year. Serial number is 474298. When I look at this site for rod bearings, it lists an insert for serial numbers 264000 (I think) and up and 488000 and up. So my number seems to fit one of those categories....BUT I am 99% sure there is no insert. I have shims and babbit style. So will this insert replace the babbit or did they use babbit and insert both on the same years? I have found part numbers for B rods that use insert or babbit but nothing really on the A. Also my rod journals are 2.996" if that is any help. The inserts listed don't give an ID and OD but only standard or -.010, -.020 so I cannot measure and see if they might work.
I am trying to get this tractor running on a budget to circle the yard once or twice a year just because my mom likes to hear it run. Tempted to try a piece of leather. Does that work on tractors like it does on cars? Already needs 4 tires (11-36 on back$$$$) radiator work, no paint left. Just not worth really putting a bunch of time and money in to tear apart and rebuild.
