john deere 2020 hydraulic problems

i have a john deere 2020 gasoline . it has a loader on it . i bought it with the hydraulics working kinda spotty, but everything still worked. i drained the hydraulic fluid and refilled with diesel to flush the system. i then drained the diesel and added john deere oil ( 10 gal.) . i then put the loader back on but the cylinders were still filled with diesel. the loader was working ,but after letting it sit for a night, the loader quit working and so did the 3 point hitch. what could this be?

Did you check/clean sump screen(key 24) & check hyd filter relief valve(14-16) to be sure it isn't stuck open. What type hyd valve controls loader(scv or ind valve)? With 3 pt raised engine running look in hyd filler hole behind seat for moving oil.

the screen is clean . my tractor is missing some releif valve parts (fig 14 and 15) would this cause a problem? it is moving oil behind the seat also. thanks

YES keys 14 & 15 were installed at the factory for a very good reason!!!

ok i am getting nowhere with this thing. i replaced the valve and spring and made sure they were both moving easily. i filled with completely new jd hydraulic oil, i installed a new screen and filter, but yet the loader and 3 point hitch refuse to move. what else could be causing this problem? the power steering and brakes work just fine. do i need to bleed the system somehow? or is there another relief valve of some sort that could be stuck? Please help, thanks

Is your tractors serial number below or above 045199?? Tractors below serial number 045199 have open-center power steering with a special power steering pump. Brake valve is filled by trans pump while 3 pt & FEL operate from high pressure frt hyd pump. I'd suggest to check stand-by pressure which should be 2250 psi.

Is tractor equipped with hyd ind pto or hyd hi-lo or reverser? With 3 pt raised engine running look in hyd filler hole behind seat for moving oil. What type valve controls loader(scv or ind valve)?

there is oil moving behind the seat i already checked that. im not 100% sure on what setup it has as far as the loader goes, its got a separate valve on the loader arm with 2 levers ( ind valve?). it does not have a high and low, or a reverser that im aware of, but i think it does have independent PTO. Thanks

You need to remove rockshaft housing(3 pt) then R&R seals in piston valve body. Be sure to replace quad-ring on RH side of trans case where RS housing contacts trans case. Pay attention to location of L/D cam location in relation to rockshaft control linkage.

Possibly debris got in seat of stroke control valve which will stop frt hyd pump from pumping or frt hyd pump drive coupler as failed and pump shaft has stopped turning when engine is running.

There is most likely a leak or worn transmission pump,, split it and begin the battle..these are rather interesting to deal with (I'm trying to sound "Politically" correct)

I'll advise to perform more diagnostics before splitting tractor to R&R trans pump. Place 5 gal bucket under then remove hyd filter cover, turn engine over 15 seconds and measure amount of oil in bucket. There should be 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 gallons in bucket.
