I am helping a friend to find parts for his 1947 model A.
Could you tell me if this is the correct cover and points kit?

Again, I am so sorry for my ignorance on those johnny poppers.

Also, would a starter off of a 60 fits on his tractor?

Thanks,

Frederic

Don't think you have a Delco distributor, almost sure its a Mallory set up. Not to much for parts available for them anymore. Changed mine over to Pertronix pointless and works great.

back in the day, when the 60 came out they used a delco distributor. By then according to a deceased friend and john deere dealership mechanic, the wico impulse was too expensive to use so they had gone to the cheaper wico distributor which turned out to have a lot of failures. Customers got so frustrated that they retro fitted a lot of the A's with the modern delco and solved the problems. The delco used the same points and condenser of the Chevrolet so customers could pick up points and condenser anywhere. I'm not sure what you have but I would do as the other poster recommended however I would get a delco distributor and install the petronix kit plus buy a new flamethrower coil. Get rid of the resistor ballast and I believe you will be delightfully satisfied. Good luck.

I have not seen a dist. like that before. If you look by the terminal it looks like it still has the name plate on it, carefully clean it off and report back.
Should be easy to find the delco model dist. on ebay or other places and put on it as parts are easy to get for it.

You guys are pretty knowledgeable:

It is an American Bosch TDG 2A121 distributor.

where can I get points and cap for it?

I can get a wico X for $65, should I just go with that instead off the distributor?
