The inside of my mag is red what's the best way to clean it ? And how do you remove the weird looking screw ?

Probably use a bead blaster to clean the inside and outside of your mag. That wierd looking screw is made so you can't remove it. It keeps the laminated fields the proper distance from the armature.

How do I clean around the armature can I spray electrical spray in there to get some of it clean ? The mag works I'm cleaning up around the coil and like grit and some rust .

Pull it apart. On that model you can remove the rotor and bearing and impulse coupling all in one by removing the 4 screws that hold the impulse plate to the body. A slight tap to the front of the shaft and it should pop out. I would really recommend taking the impulse all apart and cleaning it up and replacing the ball bearing too as good chance it is old and the grease is dried out. JD offered an electrical service manual that covers these others may also offer videos. I bet you tube even has some.
