I am working on a 40 JD for friend -- It has a tick in the left rear wheel -- I checked all the bolts that keep the wheel and hub on -- took em out lubed them and put back in -- still there -- Jacked up the tractor and turned the wheel -- The tick is in the same place every time --must be the outer axle bearing -- So does this bearing come out by removing the outer cap off the axle housing? Sure hope so -- that sure would make easier -- thanks in advance for all your help and comments --- Roy

its a 40 not the year -- its a model 40

There was a utility, row crop utility, Tricycle, Standard, V and Crawler versions of the model 40. Maybe even a high crop?
