4630 brake pads

Just curious guys, I had the dealer install new brake pads on my 4630 and I dropped off the plates at their shop. They charged $900 in labor to take off the old pads and install the new ones. Does that seem a little high? They put on the new non-asbestos pads.

That's about the normal "Over-charge" that you can expect from a dealer,,I will do them all day long for a forth of that price.

I am thinking the service writer/secretary misread the job description and charged you the job of the whole job with the tractor in their shop. I would call on Monday for a quote and see what the amount is and go from there. chris

Even 250 seems like a lot. With the right tools, should be super quick. And if they believe their labor is worth $90 an hour, then they better not thinker with the wrong tools.

had brakes done on one of my 4630s here a couple years back. I believe it was right at about $750. He figured it would be only $250 per side, but he said it was quite a wrestling job with the outer wheel/axle hub sticking out and their forklift to get things maneuvered out and back together again. I now have forks for my 3420 telehandler- I will never pay for a brake job again.

I can put both trumpets back together in less than 2 hours, usually. Just have to use 5/8 all threads rods as guides, and you put your chain close to the final drive, then I just put a C clamp on the trumpet so the chain cannot slide out.
