4430 Hyd Leak

I have a 4430 that has developed a hydraulic fluid leak. When the tractor is hot fluid runs pretty
steady from behind what I think is called the rockshaft control valve cover. This part is
marked as R60081. In the parts diagram it is listed as AR73899.

In the picture you can see the previous owner replaced the original 4430 remote with
another marked R70816.

Have to start harvesting peanuts next week so hope to fix it.

Any idea what what needs to be done...what is likely leaking. How difficult would it be
to try to fix?

It appears the RH SCV is from a 50 or 55 series tractor. Be careful when you remove block where red arrow is pointing as some springs & balls will fall out. I've listed below the quad-rings I think you'll need to stop the leak.
1 ea-F2741R Packing - ADD 3.07 USD
1 ea-R40922 Back-Up Ring - ADD 4.84 USD
5 ea-R26149 Packing - ADD 2.06 USD 10.30 USD

Thanks for the part numbers, that is really helpful! I hope you do not mind some more
questions.

1)R26149...Packing.
I see I'll need 5 of these and reckon I will be able to figure out where they go when
the cover is removed?

2)F2741R...Packing.
I am unsure where this goes. When I pull it up it is on a page
marked Electrical and I do not recognize the parts?

3)R40922...Backup ring.
This seems to be over by the oil fill tube. I should be able to find it, just double
checking.

IIRC one must remove SCV(breakaway) housing before removing block(R60081). R26149 fit between block(R60081) & RS valve housing.

I found the parts diagram you posted so now I understand. No way I could have figured out
what parts I needed to replace without your help. Going down to JD now to pick some parts
up and order these:)
