John Deere 6620 water pump question

I recently bought a 6620 not too far from home. On the way home it was running close to red but not into red. Engine and top of radiator were hot and bottom of radiator cold. I put in two new thermostats from Deere and seems to be the same situation. With both thermostats in it circualtes water through the heater in the cab, but does not seem to circulate through the radiator. I removed one thermostat and I now have good movement through the radiator and looking into the open radiator cap I have good water movement. When I drained and added water to the radiator to change the thermostats, the water seemed to move through the radiator as fast as i could poor, and looks like it has had the radiator replaced at some point. Can i run with one thermostat, or is this too much water movement? Can a water pump "wear out" that it can push water through the thermostats properly? Any ideas on what is going on here? Thanks for any help.

Put the thermostats back in and check it with a heat-gun to see if it's really getting hot..

A worn-out belt and fan pulley can overheat a combine too...as can a locked-up belt tensioner pulley or stuck tensioner pivot

If it's a 329 engine it "could" have a failed plastic impeller,,and be sure the stats are not in backwards..if it's a 466 engine the pump is not likely the problem..

It has the turbocharged 466, and old and new stats were in the right direction, both had direction arrows on their side pointing to radiator, with point facing up.

Yes, I need to get a heat gun to make sure, but fan seems to be moving a lot of air and inside and outside of radiator are clean. When I removed the one thermostat the temp gauge was not even in green, with
theremostat in it would get over the middle, just driving around the yard. I will check on the pulley and tensioners.

Did you happen to swing open the rotary screen, oil cooler and condenser and see how clean the outside of the radiator actually is? Just a thought, since you just bought it.
