LA Timing Issue

I had my LA running great this spring. I parked it inside back in May and have not run it since. I went to start it to do a little fall tillage and it wouldn't start. It is popping through the air intake when I try and start it. It seems like it wants to start but will not. I had this issue getting it timed a year ago when trying to get it back up and running after a rebuild. I have yet to have time to check the timing but find it odd that after sitting a few months the timing is in correct. It started easy and ran like a top this past spring over April and May when I plowed and harrowed with it pretty much every weekend so I have no reason to believe the timing was off. My guess is I need to move 1 cog on the timing gear on the magneto but anyone else have this issue before? Could it be a crappy condenser?

Usually from just sitting I loose all spark ? Just usually have to clean the points to get it back. Maybe moisture in the cap causing a cross fire ?

Wonder if someone messed with it and swapped your plug wires around ????
I'd check for spark and timing. # 1 front by the fan on TDC of compression stroke then your spark should occur when the D/C mark on flywheel is at the BOTTOM of the timing hole window. If set to the centerline in the window you can get kickback on the hand crank.

I doubt that your timing is off if it ran good last spring. I had trouble starting some of mine (L, LA, LUC, M)getting ready for tractor show and all 4 turned out to be the points needed to be cleaned. I'm not sure if it was from moisture (we had a lot of rain this year) or just age.

I didn't spend too much time on it yet besides checking things were moving as they should and it was getting gas flow. I was hoping since it was stored inside it would just fire right up. I'll check/clean the points then move on from there to see if it's time right. Electric start on this one and it does sometimes kick back a bit if you don't let off the starter at the right time.

Sometime long setting periods forms a gray oxide coating on the points which a simple light buff/polish will cure, maybe drag a dollar bill through them.

Go to Harber F. and buy a spark plug tester, one where you pull one of the spark plug wires off and plug on the spark plug and wire that has a light in it. If it is firing the light will light. Everyone meeds one of these testers if a motor will not crank you can see if it's firing right off.
