2555 transmission screen plug

Hi, I am changing the transmission oil on the 2555 and want to check the screen. There are plugs on both sides of the transmission case. Is it possible to remove the screen from either side? The operator's manual says to remove the plug on the left side but there is a metal hydraulic pipe that attaches to the filer bowl that is directly in the way. It is in kind of a bad spot to get a wrench on other end of the line to remove it. If I could remove the screen from the right side it would be much easier, other wise I will have to fight with the metal line. Thanks

You should change the filter when changing the oil, so the filter canisters gotta come off anyways....Ben

Hi, I already have the filter bowl off to change the filter but the pipe is still in the way. Can I service the screen from the left hand plug? Thanks

(quoted from post at 21:08:45 09/21/16) Screen access is on left.

Parts schematics shows accessing trans screen on right hand side if one is standing behind tractor.

From the rear, right side removal as Tx Jim said. Loosen the hyd tube by the filter and turn it out of your way. Mine takes a 3/4" Allen wrench to take the cap off to get to the screen. Might need to take a hammer and tap the cap lightly to break it loose, if it hasn't been removed in a while. Check the screen for excessive shavings and then clean. I added two magnets I got from my vet to the screen before I put it back in. Same magnets they put down cows for hardware. I change the fluid every 800 hrs but I change the filter every spring and pull the screen to check it. I collect and re-use the fluid.
