John Deere B carbarator problems

Recently got done restoring my John Deere B ran great. Parked it, next day went to start it and the bowl at the bottom was filling up too high,
long story short the float was full of gas. After that couldn't fix it have had carb problems before so I ordered a new one, got it on and when I
choked it it seemed to create a vacuume in the carb and would suck plenty of raw gas into the cylinders. When the choke isn't on though it
doesn't. Still haven't been able to get it to start. Hoping someone will know what's up with it.
Thanks in advanced.

As with any engine you need to trouble shoot

#1 make sure you have a good blue/white spark at the plug wired and if it has a distributor make sure you have it at he center wire of the cap. That spark needs to jump a 1/4 inch gap or more. If you have that

Open the carb drain plug and make sure you have a good steady flow of gas for 3 minutes. That flow should fill a pint jar in less then that amount of time

For the carb drain plug I open it while the gas is on with a continuous flow to the carb or while it's off?

With the gas turned on. If you had it turned off you would not get a steady flow of gas for 3 minutes and it would not fill a pint jar

Because if it does not fill a pint jar in less then those 3 minutes it is not getting enough fuel to the carb to ruin as well as it should

Not exactly sure what your saying with sucking in gas. The choke closes off air flow so as to richen up the mixture for easier cold starts and if one chokes for to long it can/will flood the engine and cause a no start condition

It sucks loads of gas almost instantly when I choke it. It seems to create a vacuum in the carb and sucks gas from it.

Turn both jets out half a turn and then try it. If it don't help, go out another half and try again. RandyB MI on here can tell you exactly how to set it, from scratch. You should send him a pm. He helped me on mine earlier last month.

Hope that helps

I do not know, about JD, but on my different-brand tractor I finally figured out the idle screw turned one way for richer, and the main screw TURNED THE OPPOSITE WAY for richer. Seems one adjusts fuel and the other adjusts air. You might not just assume which way to turn them, you might double-check the manuals.

It doesn't suck gas. Choking it cuts down on how much air can be pulled in and tha tin turn makes the mixture richer for cold starts if does not suck more gas
