4430 steering

Working on a early 4430 had to put on a new steering pump under the dash now when you you start it wheels go hard left and the wheel gets really hard and the wheels will not come back from all the way left?

There is a spool valve under the hood that is probably stuck . Oil pressure from the hand pump you just put on moves this spool. Remove the end caps and see if you can push it out . look at the sides for filings and scoring . You may have replaced the wrong part .You might need to go thru the steering motor if you find filings . Sorry, Its been awhile since I worked on one, hope this helps.

If your 4430 serial is below 027634 it has a "steering valve" & if serial number is above 027635 it has a "metering pump" steering. 2 totally different control systems similar to men are from Mars & women are from Venus.

The "Brick" is only used on the later tractors, not on the early ones with the valves under the dash.
When changing out the valve did you air bleed it?

We tried to bleed it but when you start it it goes hard left and will not come back unless you shut it off and loosen the lines, then you can turn the wheels by hand back the other way.
