4020 Steering intermittently locks up on full right turn

I have a 1970 Syncro-Range, unknown hours but is it really great condition. I have owned it for two years and this is the first problem I've had with the steering. This just happened two days ago. I was pulling a harrow and two times when the wheel was turned full right, it locked up and I could not turn the wheel back left until I clutched it, stopped and reduced the throttle. Then it returned to normal. I didn't see anything in my technical manual related to this problem. I wonder if anyone has encountered this and if so, what was the solution? Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

It sounds like it's time to re-seal and re-calibrate it, I can do this for you if your interested in shipping it to me,, $380 for parts labor and a bench test to prove it,, let me know if I can help.

The O-rings in the steering motor have failed . This loses trapped oil so the steering valve will replace the lost oil as long as you hold it in a right turn .

Maybe I wasn't too clear or I don't understand your reply. I wasn't holding it in a hard right, I made a hard right and could not turn the wheel back to the left unless I stop the tractor and reduce throttle.

That is what I thought, and that is why I pointed to the valve under the dash,, although the steer motor is the suspect a lot of times, and a lot of these old gals have never had the steer motor resealed yet..I can repair the valve if you need help, I do a lot of them here and bench test them to be sure all is correct for you..

Thanks much for the information. I will keep your offer in mind. I can't do without it till winter gets here then maybe I can scrape up the $$ for the repair!
