Flasher location on 4020

I'm working on the wiring on a 1968 4020
diesel. Most of the wiring is here but non-
functional, and it has new fenders, so
there's no wiring up through them. My
question is where does the flasher get
mounted for the warning light on the left
fender?

I can't tell from the wiring diagram, and
the original flasher is long gone.

Some had it hanging on the fender down low..real old 4020 tractors with a single rear light had it stuck in the wiring behind the seat/rockshaft tin-work.

I've seen some of those warning lights that had the flasher built into it too. has a bump on top with the flasher inside.

All new generation rowcrop tractors that I remember had flashers wedged up in fender opening. I don't remember any JD OEM warning lights with flasher built in them but ""hey I'm getting old"".

May not have been OEM lights...or oem for Ansel or Hiniker(sp.)

If I understand your question the emergency flasher location is located on the back rib of fender which is about 9in from rear and centered. The wiring goes up thru that rib and there is about an inch hole drilled in the rib and a smaller one that flasher mounts thru.I would get the correct wiring which is covered.JD makes a nice flasher that looks correct but I would have to look at box for number. Those cheap all orange ones don't look right to me.

Actually I was looking for where the actual flasher mechanism in the wiring would go, that then feeds the amber light on top the fender, making it blink. I could have been clearer.

I do have to drill the hole for the light though. These reproduction fenders are nice (if you get the more expensive ones at least) but they don't have the hole drilled on top for the flashing warning light. I guess so they can be used for all the different tractors and set ups. Fortunately I have the original set I can go by.

Thanks for your reply though.

Somewhere in the light wiring near the base of the fender most likely...often gone...sometimes removed and a rear flood installed in a warning light's place.

Sometimes may have a little round clamp to keep it in place..which is often gone on the relics I've worked on

Console models have the flasher mounted inside the dash panel below the light switch. Early models were at the base of the fender. I put them under the dash on early models also as they are protected better there.
