The indicator that show what gear your in broke on my JD 4450 PS tractor. It is just a short little plastic lever about four inches long. It is sticking down under the support in the picture.

Now the trouble. JD only sells this along with the support/guide (# 4B in the diagram) that the indicator pivots on. $126.75.

Any ideas on a replacement part??? I do not know for sure if I have all the pieces of the old one. Maybe glue it back together??? Make a new one out of steel???

The darn thing is not that big of a piece. It sure is not worth $126!!!!! LOL

I would be grabbing a piece of aluminum or steel and making that bad boy. It would be a better part for pert near nothing.

I have seen several of them broken before. Would help if they weren't as thin as a toothpick. Usually it's the black part that doesn't show thru the window that snaps in two. But depending on where it broke, you might be able to epoxy back together or reinforce it with fiberglass. Probably wouldn't be too hard to fab one out of steel either.

Back in 1983 ? the prdnl indicator on the shift lever broke with less than 5000 miles ! I made one from small pieces of metal gas welded it together ! Might be the only thing left of the truck by now !
