4010 hydraulic pump drive

I have our 4010 at the dealership checking out the hydraulic pump for a possible leak. It turns out it is just a line going to the power steering that is leaking.

But they told me about some kind of a rubber type coupling that is on the end of the crank shaft that buffers the hydraulic pump drive.

I'm not familiar with this so would appreciate any information anyone could provide as to it's actual function and the consequences if it fails.

thanks,

The original 4010's had a pump drive using two flexible steel discs. Sounds like yours has been converted to the 4020-style drive using 4 flexible bushings.

What, exactly are you asking, are they suggesting the bushings (Key # 4 in the second drawing) be replaced? A relatively simple job, and the bushings only cost about $2.50 each, for a total of $10.

4010 could have original hyd pump drive which has no rubber bushings.

Later style hyd drive coupler resembles this with bushings(key 4). One just needs to remove clamps(key 2) to replace bushings.

Could be what is shown below, or were they trying to sell you a new harmonic balancer?? That is the pulley assembly the pump drive attaches to. There is a rubber filling on the inside that cushions things. They are not exactly cheap. Deere likes to see those replaced, but there are some out there that have lasted a long (like since new) time.

I think this harmonic balancer is what they are talking about.

We originally took the tractor to the dealer because we had a hydraulic fluid leak that appeared to be coming from the pump seal but when they looked it turned out to be a leak in a line that goes to the power steering unit.

But then they pointed out this other problem they had found and as they described the problem it sounds like the harmonic balancer.

They told me if this thing failed it could break the crank shaft. I also had a hard time pinning them down on any kind of an estimate but they finally estimated $3500 to both replace the leaking hydraulic line and repair this other problem.

I'd appreciate anyone's thoughts on this matter.
