Operating temperature for JD H

Since the "H" is an all-fuel tractor, it was necessary for the operating temperature to be fairly hot to help vaporize the heavier fuels that were expected to be burned. So the tractor was to be started with gasoline, then switched to the cheaper and less volatile fuel after reaching operating temperature. The original manuals state that one could switch over to fuel when the temperature gauge reached 180 degrees, and that the radiator curtain (or shutters) were to be adjusted to maintain an operating temperature of 190 degrees. Of course, if you are using only gasoline, the temperature really doesn't matter, as long as the coolant is not boiling.
