Last summer after sitting for 20 years, I got my 720 started. The pony clutch from the start was always grinding when engaging, and sometimes disengaging. Over the last year, I was able to engage the clutch enough to get it to turn the diesel enough so I could start the tractor few times over the year.
This summer it seemed to get worst, and I had to play with the clutch trying to find a point where it would engage and stay engaged long enough to start the tractor. Over the last few days, now I can't even get it to stay engaged at all. I can play with the lever until I find a point where it feels engaged, and the diesel will turn one rev and disengage. The pony keeps running but nothing happens with the clutch.
I tightened down the adjusting bolts on the clutch , but this did nothing.
What can be causing this and can this be fixed without having to remove the complete pony motor?
