43 corn sheller operation

I have fooled around and never gotten an owners manual for my 43 sheller, and I am planning on taking it to a show near my home next weekend. Other than greasing it and other common-sense items, are there any pointers about running it? If I recall correctly, the previous owner told me to keep the little cleanout door on the fan open until corn started going in, and then shut it. Is this important?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks,
Al

Just so you get an answer - I have no idea, BUT, the previous guy probly told you the truth. I am guessing that it is in 'operational' condition. Just take it to the show, there will be guys there that can sort it out (and burn the hair outen' your ears). Have phun ;^)

When we used our 43 sheller we would starting up with the blower door open to clear the leftovers out, shut it off, close it, start it back up, bring up to rpm, rpm is important for the blower, make sure there was air flowing from the discharge pipe, start feeding corn in making sure it's flowing out the pipe, if all is well, feed it corn.

We would only have trouble if someone gave it a shovel of the damp corn from the edge of the corn crib.
