530 hood question

Our 530 came with larger holes to fasten the hood than I expected. They are so big the washers only fit on part of the hole and are bending the tin. Is this normal? Anybody have any suggestions?

I use fender washers of the appropriate size. In the back there should be a rubber washer about 1/4" thick under the bolt holes between the hood and the pieces the hood bolts to. The oversized holes and rubber washers allow for some movement when the tractor frame moves and twists a bit, and for a bit of variance in the distance from the radiator to the rear cowling. If I remember right the rubbers should have a steel bushing where the bolt goes through the rubber to avoid distorting the hood by pulling it in too far with the bolt.

No. This is our first hand clutch John Deere. It came with metal washers and short bolts. I looked at several vendors and didn't find any fasteners or rubber washers. Where can I find them?

I found on my Farmall H that the hood / grill / radiator / steering bolster / radiator shroud wwere not precisely exactly machined to a close fit, and fitted into place. I finally found it all fit if I just wallered out the holes, and it could all fit then. Works great now.

I cut my own rubber washers out of the sidewall of a tire using a hole saw. For the bushing I have used bushings I have saved out of other things but you can find bushings at select hardware stores. It helps to have a good hole punch to make the hole in the washer big enough for a bushing but a drill bit will work too.

The rubber washers (A4668R) and the spacers (A4669R) are still readily available from John Deere.

Price is kinda UGLY, but they're still available for those that need 'em.

Haven't purchased in a long period but there used to be a company called correct connection...think they advertised in the green magazine...there several pieces for these...spacers grommets washers and bolts. a lot to it...springs for the front grill panels and the like...
