JD AR 2 speed hi lo to 3 speed?

A few of us were sitting around after the most recent show we attended, and were talking about a friend of ours Unstyled AR (I believe it is a 1945). He would really like to get some more speed out of it for tractor rides. Would it be possible to swap out the shifting forks, and sliding gear assembly with that of a JD A with the three speed hi/lo transmission (1940-1947)? Seems to me that it should be possible.. Anyone know off hand?

I have a 42 AR and the reduction is in the tires going from 11X38s to 26". There are different gears out there but good luck finding them. You could have some gears custom made but your looking at some major dollars.
