Wear ring on crank

We are rebuilding my JD 276 engine that is on my 2640 tractor. On the end of the crank that goes to the flywheel, there is a ring.....it looks like a wear ring that goes next to the seal. It looks as if we should replace it, but I'm not finding the exact part on the online JD parts list.

Any Help? Have any of you encountered this?

Thanks

Hmmm. Thanks.

What type of tool is it? Any other way to install it?

Is there a way to find a suitable installation tool?

Tool installs seal and wear ring at the correct
distances.
Might be available from A&I. Check Deere dealer.

I'm having trouble finding 1) the right tool number, and 2) a dealer that has a rear main seal installation tool. We are rebuilding my 2640 with the 276 engine. The book calls for a JDE-140 tool, but one dealer told me that was not a good number.

So......

Is there any good way to install this seal another way?
Do any of you know someone in SE Texas that would have one of these tools?

Pay your dealer to install your seal. The Waterloo
installing tool is from 181.33 to $240. The tool
you need will be higher.

I rebuilt a jd engine that came out of a log skidder, it had that type seal. Installed the crank in the block, set it in the back of my truck upside down. Backed into the jd shop door, mechanic put the seal in for me, took almost 5 minutes, and no charge. Best thing I ever did.

cant you get a seal with a thin ring that goes over the factory jd ring opps sleeve? seems like when I rebuilt our 4010 and 4020 I got a rear main seal with a thin sleeve that had a driver cup to go over the thick sleeve.gosh been 25 years ago when I rebuilt both
