unusual deere 420 T Pto shaft bearing

I have an unusual deere 420 T with a large square plate on the rear of the transmission that does not match my manual or any I have seen. I had oil loss around the pto shaft and huge wobble. I would like to replace the seal and bearing. Anyone know where I can find a bearing. Also my shaft looks much longer than any in the catalogs or manuals. See pics.

Thanks

not sure what the "large rectangular plate" is. Is it above the PTO cover where the belt pulley would mount? Some models had longer PTO shafts than others. I have a 430 Utility and it has the longer shaft and housing compared to the S model. I think the T might also have the longer housing. You can remove the PTO housing without disturbing transmission oil level and get to the bearing from the back. The PTO housing has an oil cavity in the rear end I believe and bearing on inner end. I can't remember about the outer end if ther is also a bearing there. According to my manual you should keep housing full of oil. Mine came with a plate to seal off the pto hole in transmission so that you could remove the PTO if you wanted. The longer housing is harder to find if you have to replace it. There is a seal inside the housing and entire housing is not filled with oil. If I remember right the rear bearing is not oiled from the pto oil but from transmission.

Thanks for the reply. Apparently my 420t has the same rear as a 40t. I have so much wobble as the PTO exits the back of the tractor, replacing the oil seal alone doesn't seem practical. It may be that the shaft is worn down, however there was what appears to be a brass bushing on the shaft, but it was not seated. It is the size of a toilet paper roll tube. Does anyone have a 40t manual who can tell me if I am missing something? Is there a separate bearing? Thanks

I keep trying to post a pic but it doesn't go through.

Thanks

Steve

Take a look at the diagram below.

Note the rear cover (Key 6) with bushings, stud, oil seal, and bearing.

The part number is AM 1965 T.

Check with your local John Deere dealer for a new part.

Check with Farmer Johns Parts for an OEM used part.

Hope this helps.
