2010 shifter

My 2010 gas is a good tractor dispite all the faults this model was known to have. The loader is strong and fast.

The only problem is the shifter. I have adjusted it according to the manual and have tried other ways ,but nothing makes much difference, When I first got it you could hardly get into any gear so I have made some improvement.

I have posted befor and always hope someone has overcome my problem. Maybe the Green Magazine has done an article on this?

Thanks for reading....

A couple of things to check. Check the pin/rod ends for wear. Oblong holes on the yoke ends/out of round pins make an accumulation of slop, making it harder reach the full travel of movement in shifting. The other thing is, gear mashing, if the clutch needs attention, is out of adjustment, warped or needs a new throw-out bearing it may be dragging and start to turn the input shaft between shift changes as soon as the pressure is released before you get into the next gear.

Jo, thank -you for your reply to my 2010 shifter problem.

My yokes are tight, but there is some play in the quadrant. When you go from neutral to get into any gear you have to move the selector carefuly ti get into a gear.

The 2 arms that clamp onto the shaft and move the rods and go to the yokes-can they get out of alinment?

I have had the mashing problem, but not all the time. There is no free play in the clutch pedal.

o the internal yokes do not get out of alignment, but the gears them selves have bronze bushings that ride on the shafts. They tend to wear and allow the gear to tilt on the shafts causing hard/ clashing shifting, especially in the lower gears used most with a loader shuttling back and forth. The bushings were only available with a new gear, lets say pricey at best. First gear was so bad that i took it to a machine shop and they made a new bushing, that helped, the rest I learned to live with. If you pull off the transmission cover you can check the play in the bushings.
