8630 lost all hydraulics

Tim,

I'm in SC with a JD8630. I was running the machine yesterday plowing. When I got to the end of the field , I turn right when I lost power steering. I immediately pulled back the hydraulic lever to pick up the plow when I learned the plow wouldn't pick up. Then I lost all clutch function. The machine lost everything to do with hydraulics. The center drive shafts are turning but tractor is unresponsive. All of this in a 20 sec time frame. I shut it down, ,pulled the hydraulic oil dip stick found it full. I pulled the hydraulic filter off checked for metal, non out of ordinary. Dropped the hydraulic oil. Nothing noticeable there. I pulled two strainers but very little there. You seem to be the expert on this model tractor. I'm willing to pay you to speak to me or alow me to pay for your guidance. I'm just at wits end. Have any ideas? May I call you? Number? My cell is 803-260-4510. I appreciate any advice you might have, sir. Thanks Thomas

In this case, it would be the "clutch pump", cleverly hidden on the forward-facing "backside" of the oil filter canister at the LH side of the front hinge area. It's driven off of the live PTO gears by it's own little drivetrain.

Could be anything from a sheared key in the pump area to a failure of the live PTO drive from the clutch cover back.

The "transmission pump" in this series only supplies lube to certain internal transmission parts, it doesn't contribute to the oil supply to the main hydraulic pump.

Sadly, I have one at the shop right now with a poorly-performing clutch pump. Haven't had time to dig into it ans see what's going on.

No "hydraulic pump" in rear half of the tractor.

Since you have checked screens and filters, start by checking for pressure and flow from the clutch pump, and (likely) finding none) go on to figure out what's wrong with the clutch pump.

It supplies operating oil to the clutch, the high-low planetary, the PTO clutch, the PTO brake and charge oil to the main hydraulic pump driven off of the front of the engine crankshaft.

Could even be the the large suction hose between the halves of the tractor has collapsed inwards.

Hello I just got back from the Portland Indians show,,did you check the front pump coupling?? I will get back with you latter,,un packing now..

(quoted from post at 07:31:57 08/25/16) Thank you very much. Is there a hydraulic pump inside the rockshaft housing?
here's one in the rear differential housing.
It's the transmission lube pump and it also charges the main hydr pump up front.
You can check for hydr pressure by installing a 100 PSI gauge in the sensor port on the right rear axle pressure should be +/- 35-40 psi at idle.

Bison, are you disputing what I previously posted/do you know something about the articulated DEERE 4X4's of that era, that I don't, and the official factory shop manual doesn't?

I'm gonna try this ONE MORE TIME... on those tractors, the pump by the rear differential only lubes certain transmission components and DOES NOT operate the clutch/planetary two-speed or PTO clutches OR supply oil to the main hydraulic pump.

On the tractors we are discussing here the CLUTCH PUMP, at the location I previously at the RH side of the front hinge area does those functions.

UNLESS you can provide some verifiable information that proves otherwise.

Thanks for responding. I've had bigger issues so I haven't gotten back to my hydraulic problem. Looks like Bob and Bison responded but I haven't read their response yet.
