I removed the pump from the tractor and remove the shaft from pump but now I am trying to remove bottom seal but there is a metal washer under seal. So my question is do I need to tear pump apart to install seal?

There will be if not careful. With the pump upside down is the best way so the governor weight set stays in place. I prefer to reseal the complete pump, no matter what make or model. Partial repairs usually start leaking somewhere else soon after has been my experience..

I have done my share of these pumps. That washer is what centers the drive shaft. Do not damage it or the pump will leak even with new seals. Parts are getting hard to find so take your time and go careful.

Do you have one seal or two? Many CBC pumps came new with one double-lip seal and had to be modified to accept two single-lip seals. The double-lip seal is part # R45039. The two single-lip seals are part # R46841. I don't know if any of them are available anymore. Many parts were discontinued in the mid-80s and Deere was selling change-over kits to replace C-pumps with DB pumps.

I just droped it off and the shop in town. The guy does several of them and i told him to reseal everything he could. I have made several adaptors for my 4520s to put on the DB pumps.
