oil for JD 2630

Just acquired a JD 2630, appears to be in good shape, but with unknown hours. Original manual calls for straight 30wt in crank case above 32F, 10-30 below 32F. Should I be running 15-40 in this thing?
Thanks

I hope you enjoy your 2630 as much as I have mine , they are
a good tractor. The 2630 here has thrived on 15-40 so
I bet yours would too. Good luck with the new to you tractor.

Check the transmission oil screen and transmission oil filter . Also obtain a coolant system test strip that checks For corrosion inhibitor .
If neglected and abused in the past there could be $$$ in the future .

We had good service from a 2630 here for years, despite high hours when we bought it. I used the JD 15-40 like many others, with no apparent issues oil related. I am the poster child for what B&D mentioned- poor coolant maintenance led to failure in a cylinder liner, led to major overhaul. Tractor was better after the work, but much more valuable, as well.
