The tractor is now at the local dealership to remove the pump and see what's wrong with it. It pumps fine but is leaking around the rear seal.
They are telling me a new pump is $2500 to $3000 but I can buy a rebuilt pump for $500 to $1000. They insist rebuilt pumps are unreliable and they have seen some last only a few hours.
This tractor is owned by our local road association and only runs about 30 hours a year.
I question their assertion regarding rebuilt pumps as I have used a number of rebuilt items with good results.
So I would appreciate any input on the question and also suggestions for reliable sources of rebuilt pumps.
I will be away from the computer until this week end so may not respond to any posts.
Thanks.
