Tell me about this 3010

Is this a row crop utility? Is it rare? I always wanted a 3020 row crop utility but just happened to stumble on this one. What's it
worth?

It is a utility that someone stuck rowcrop fenders and oversized back tires on. At first it did not look like it but a closer look showed the utility steering which sets lower and you can see the hump at the platform. On a utility the front end could be in either the long or short position. If you do buy it the hardest part to find is the correct fenders. If you do not need it perfect fenders from a 2010 are almost the same and unless someone knows alot about utilities they will never pick it up. We have a 3020 utility gas. Tom

With my old eyeballs I didn't see the trans hump until you pointed it out. All the RC utility tractors I've seen similar to this one was short wheelbase type. I understand that frt axle can be turned around.

Hey TJ, Try your old eyeballs on the front axle.
The picture is not good quality. I can't tell if front axle
might be straight instead of swept back. Perhaps that was changed
as well as rear wheels.

Front axle on any (standard, row crop, row crop utility) can be installed either way. Another clue is that the wide front seems to have the shorter spindles in the front. Note the front end sloped down with
rear tires that would be appropriate to a row crop.

yes that there is a 3010 diesel rowcrop utility tractor that has been cobbled up.
easiest give away like others have said is first the ten series hand grabs by the steering wheel
the utility give away is the short steering collumn and the low step plates for your feet.
they made 1108 total diesel rowcrop utilities.
compare that to 23675 row crop diesels and I guess you can call it kinda rare.
as to what is it worth.
well it has a hundred dollar rain cap if you are looking for an original one.
lets get to the cobbled up stuff.
from the distorted pix it is missing the rare brake cover
Im guessing its also missing the one on the other side for the clutch pedal
its possible to find them but good luck
also the original battery box, covers and brackets seem to have disappeared. they will be very hard to find and probably attached to the old fenders that were taken off. track down the previous owner, he may still have them.
seat arm rest missing, not sure bout the back rest, that you can find from a 2010 seat.
it looks like 36 inch tires which means most likely the rear hubs have been changed. they should be 28 inch
thats gonna take some $$
deffinately the wrong rear fenders. you can use them for trading material but good luck finding the original 3010 or 3020 rear utility fenders. I have heard as high as 1500 a pair for usable ones.
yes 2010 fenders will work and u may have to settle for them, but there is a difference like others have stated.
the biggest cost of this tractor which we cant see in the photo is the rear 3 point hitch arms.
they are made of unobtainium and if they are missing the tractor is a low end bottom of the pit price parts tractor.
in that $2500 range.
the arms only fit 3010 and 3020 utility tractors. and lots of them got broke, bent or taken off.
in my own person opinion if you want a 3020 utility then go put an add on this site and find one.
you are going to spend thousands to put this tractor back to original and your going to still only have a ten series tractor.
I am only talking from experience as I wanted a rowcrop utility 3020 also and ended up getting the one in the picture I posted. well worth the wait and hunting for.
one last thing check the serial number tag and hopefully it has one. jd made 32 LP gas 3010 utilities, maybe this one is converted to diesel????
let us know how you make out.

Thank you, that is the answer I was looking for. I knew this tractor was cobbled up a bit but thought the angle of the steering wheel might make it a utility. My guess it I would have 10x the purchase price getting it the way I wanted it. It also looks to me like the axles might have been cut. After doing a little more research about 'utilities' I suspected correct fenders and battery boxes would be near impossible to come up with. I had no idea about the 3pt. hitch-----thanks again for the information.

When I was considering fixing up and older collector car, a body man suggested "Just fix the little things that bother you and then enjoy it as it is". That advice worked out very well. At most tractor shows that tractor would draw a lot of double-takes and would be a great conversation starter. I would just replace the seat and fix it up enough that you can use it and enjoy it as-is.

I have a 3010 gas utility that I am trying to sell or I will probably have to part out. I have $3,000 in it and just want to get my money back. I want to have some bigger parts sold before I part it.

your tractor looks like it has a lot of potential.
maybe a new seat and some fresh gas to get it running and you can put a for sale sign on it at a show.
at least it has most of the hard to find parts that the above tractor is missing.
especially the three point and fenders.
Im surprised it hasnt sold.

It has many good points and some bad. The starter is new JD rebuilt. I had the head and carb gone through and it runs great. Clutch is rusted up so I could not try driving it. Fuel tank is rusted out on the bottom. I have to hire repairs and I just don't want to put any more money in it. The fenders are patched up on the bottoms and the front end has been welded up. Rear tires are new.

adict,

What is the lever below the grab handle (lever is in the 10:30 position)?

Also, could you post some closeup pics of your tractor showing the parts missing from the 3010 in question?

Thanks

Tractor in photo that jd_addict posted has a powershift trans. Lever you inquired about is a trans disconnect lever that when pulled back relieves pressure on damper clutch so trans input won't turn while attempting to start tractor in very cold weather. Back when I was employed at a JD dealer I made a couple of service calls to show farmer how to get lever to push forward. One must pull knob on dash to unlock lever so lever can be pushed forward.

Thanks Tx,

Perhaps you can explain another thing, I am not seeing a clutch pedal? Is there some sort of cover there? What am I missing?

Thanks

Powershift trans normally had an inching pedal similar to syncro-range trans. Inching pedal didn't control a clutch but controlled a hyd valve. I enlarged the photo and saw 2 handles on LH side with rear most shorter handle the damper clutch disconnect handle BUT at this point I can't locate the front longer handle in parts catalog & have no idea what it controls.
