JD 40 tractor serial number

I seen a JD 40 tractor sell Sunday with no designation as to which series it was just had model # 40 and no letter to identify the version. It appeared to be a utility but was was taller I thought . I will have to read the serial number again to see how early of a 40 it was looked like it had the original paint and sold for nearly $3000

iirc the only ones without a letter after the number were the T models. You can have 7 different model 40 with all the same serial number if you could find them ! That would be a feat.
