magnets in trans case???

ok so I have been reading about the frustrations with Mannheim utility tractor hydraulics for some time. I too have one, 1979 model 3130, in reading the comments about the magnets in the transmission case, do you have to split the tractor? or can you put them in the drain plug holes? I figure it couldn't hurt to do this. But would like to know the best method and best locations. I use this tractor for haying and use it about 150 or less hours per year. I change the trans oil and filter and clean the screen every 2 years. And I use JD Hy-Gard. Just trying to take as good of care as possible to prolong the "old girls life". any info/ advise is much appreciated

You can insert magnet in hole when sump screen has be pulled to check for debris. Either hyd oil must be drained or the nozzle on hose of a running shop vacuum inserted in hyd oil filler hole.

Attaching a "cow magnet" to the drain plug is one way..and if and when the rockshaft is removed there is places down and to the side of the differential to place some..it would not hurt to place some in a "healthy" tractor,,just to keep small particals from traveling through the system..
